Famous Xaverians - Michael Aldrich [1952]

Famous Xaverians -any thoughts Tony Curtis?

I decided it was time to “update” Wikipedia .. for too now long the Clapham College Site looks like a defunct area that “died” with the closure of the College in 1986.

Yes, the building has changed – it is now part of a truly great Educational Establishment, SFX has reached heights the Brothers could never have dreamed of, but as we have discovered over the last few years the “spirit” of Clapham has rarely been stronger.

But before sending Wikipedia a list of more memorable events and characters that are associated with Clapham College, I thought I’d better find out what was already there.

It was then that I opened the reference on Michael Aldrich [from the Class of 1952] all I really had about Michael was the information that he was in the “A” group and Canterbury, left in 1959 [the same time as our own Tony Curtis] and that he’d emigrated to the USA...

It was only last night that I discovered he has his own Archive at Brighton University and INVENTED ONLINE SHOPPING, E-BUSINESS AND E-COMMERCE....

Now Clapham College can take credit for many things, but do you remember that Physics Lab? The nearest we had to a laptop was Mrs Chilcott’s typewriter, and I don’t think in my seven years at Clapham I found a round-pinned plug! Mind you when Michael left Clapham for university at Hull it was to study History, so maybe we can’t claim too much credit for the invention of Online Shopping.

Any memories Tony?
