Hey all,

It's that time of year again. With the Christmas run in upon us that means just one thing... public service announcement and start preparing the best bib and tucker because of course the Chairmans Lunch 2019 is coming. Details included in the attached but mark the date (Friday 25th January), book the annual leave and sign on up as it's bound to be a cracker! Entry form included.

And to normal fixture matters. If the weather holds to extend to 4 fixtures this weekend.

Results from last weekend:
1s - 2-3 Loss home to Reigate
2s - 3-4 Loss home to Clissord Park Ranger
3s - 1-1 and points on the board away at Guildford

For those who aren't aware we have ended up dropping one side and therefore the 4s are the new look 3s now and have the customary match report below. Enjoy!
Luke

After a torrid start to the season (So bad, I can't even remember any of the games we played and lost...apart from the first game of the season, where we lost 5-2? 7-2? All I remember is that it the changing rooms were really hot. We played a bank, it was my birthday and I got super drunk)

In deep dark Guilford, a plucky young rabble of Clapham footballers gathered, hoping that the December period will bring them good luck.

First...the pitch. To get to the pitch we had to walk over the best football pitch I have ever seen. Wonkier than willy wonka on a windy Wednesday in Widnes. (Lovely bit of aliteration there) It was on a hill! Not like how Norbury has a bit of a slope from one end to the other....but from left to right...and With a good 45 degree slope. It looked like a carpet though. Not like our pitch... our pitch was boggy and muddy...but it was flat (ish)

Well, Brussel my sprouts...coxa started with an electric pace creating 2 clear cut chances which the keeper saved.

Jamie Morris wins the Rich Smith gaffe of the week...with a sublime header!....into his own net. Just top binned it. He rose like a salmon and nutted it, the keeper didn't even move. Whitts got angry and Chris Cole did a bit of ice skating. A few more chances from either team and the half ended.

The pitch got heavy and one would think the oppo would squeeze us out the game...but peel my tangerines...Did we bounce back.

The pressure was building and finally coxa scored from a whipped corner from Russ and a fine header from Harms.

Jay Buckerfield moment of the week goes to Whitts. Second half, back pass from Howell, to Critchlow who finds Whitts in the middle of the park, who decides to control it/pass it with a, well, the only way I can describe it was like when Zola scored that flick goal at the near post, rabona-ish. Top work and pointless as it went straight to the oppo.

Defence stood firm and coxa could have knicked it at the death, but it wasn't to be. How we didn't score was perplexing to say the least.

All those wonderful cliches start flowing after the final whistle. Points on the board....Stop the rot...etc etc.

Onwards and upwards!
