With excellent weather very similar to last year, the COXA Stan Miller Trophy was again won with a score of 42 points. This Year, Tom Proxa produced an excellent round of golf to win the event for the first time.

The Eamon Taggart Memorial Trophy for nearest the pin went to Andy McDonald, whose consistently good golf always has him among the prize winners.

The golfing find of the day was Nick Crean’s son Eion. He won both the Guest Stapleford Competition, with the highest score we have seen in some years, 43 points, and also demonstrated his skill to win the nearest the pin prize.

The nearest the pin in two shots was won by Alfie Keable, whose drive of over 275 yards to the green secured his win

The team competition was won this year by the four-man team of Andy MacDonald, Eamon Kearns, Tom Proxa, and Thomas Proedenphant, who scored an incredibly high 96 points.

My thanks to Eddie O’Brien our much over worked secretary for presenting the prizes, to Paul West for getting the teams to the tee on time, to Surrey Downs for providing a course in excellent condition, but most of all to the record number of golfers, forty-four, who made it a terrific day.
