I thought I should let you know that my wife’s uncle, Brian Kevin Cunningham, died on Friday 22 September in St Thomas’s Hospital, from pneumonia following a hip operation. He was 91.
Brian, who was born on 15 July 1932, was an Old Boy. He went to Clapham College, possibly just for his last two years at secondary school to get the qualifications he needed to go on to higher education. So I guess that he was at Clapham in 1948-49 and 1949-50, or thereabouts. Fr. Anthony Richins remembered him from school and later from church: Brian was a practising Catholic throughout his life, attending Our Lady of the Rosary Church on Brixton Road.
We have very little information on his working career beyond knowing that his final job was at the British Museum Library. Until he died, he lived in the house he was born in --- in Gateley Road in Brixton ---along with his four older unmarried sisters, who all died some time before him. He did not marry either.
Funeral details will follow in due course.
