What a weekend of football enjoyed by COXA last Saturday!

What a weekend of football enjoyed by COXA last Saturday. The 1st team drew at home to Shene in-front of packed home support due to the VIP day. The 2s won away in the cup in Watford against UCL, proving that we can travel well! The 3rd team also picking up 3 points to top opposition challenging for promotion, and the 4th team smashed their oppo 8-1! All teams clearly buoyed by my promise that if all 4 teams were unbeaten, I would stick £100 behind the bar at Norbury on Saturday, and it was a pleasure to do so!

The VIP day at Norbury was a roaring success, thank you to all the old boys that turned up to watch the game and socialise in the bar afterwards, I know all the 1st team players really enjoyed the occasion. Frank Barretta deserves special praise for his huge part in organising it all.

Also special mention to 4th team skipper, Stan Christoforou who celebrated his birthday at the weekend.

As usual please see this weeks fixtures and a couple of pictures from the VIP day along with the match reports (Derek Mensah's 2s match report is still a novel, you've been warned!)

Quotes about the VIP Lunch:

Colin Garvey, "...a splendid day yesterday. Unbelievable fun. Also I think COXA should be proud of The First X1 football team. Brilliant. I can't believe we were that fast or that skilful".

Eddie O'Brien summed up the day perfectly....."What a great day, the company, the guests, the opposition, the 1st XI display, the weather, the beer, the food, the wine and port, Percy and Boris, generosity of spirit, Jimmy Burke unable to walk and I probably missed loads more".

From the 1st XI ref on Saturday who travelled all the way from Loughton, Essex:...."Best hospitality I've ever received. Great atmosphere, great food, great company. Brilliant all round, I was made to feel 110% welcome".

From our Shene OG guests on the day:...."On behalf of David and myself, a belated thankyou for your magnificent hospitality on Saturday. Great company and curry but don’t think we will be attempting to repeat the alliteration joke any time soon".
